About my Blog son

Okay, so I'm no professional blogger but, i think I'm pretty freaking interesting, sike. But for real I find cool shit on the interweb everyday now i can have it all in one place, right alongside the randomness that is my life... Be forewarned there will be an excessive amount of profanity at times, that's just how I feel

Jesus Riding Shotgun...

By Mr. Joshua Bennett...
I've been planning this review since October but with school, travel and family gatherings I've fallen slightly behind... If you're new to my blog then go back about 120 posts or something like that and you will find my profession of love and admiration for this young man's mastery of his craft... And my love for the way he squints when he smiles but I digress, I want to make this as un-creepy as possible lol... After a shipping snafu and having to wait until thanksgiving break for my book I read this bad boy in one sitting... And I'm currently using my Lupe Fiasco concert ticket as a bookmark...

I absolutely love this book it's the 4th book of poems I own and the 2nd I purchased myself, all I can say is, money well spent...
10 things made my eyes well up, it's amazing that in this age of disrespect among men and women something of such beauty can exist...
"When I was born/My mother's smile was so bright/It knocked the air from my lungs/and I haven't been able to breathe right since"...
Who knew young men still thought this way or even had the courage to commit it to paper...
I've posted a live performance of "Derrick" before...
Eulogy For Youth is beyond words, he says everything we are either afraid to or can't think of a way to communicate to one another...
"Swings" had me feeling all girly and such, this quote in particular...
"I want to hold you so tightly/that my fingertips etch guitar notes into your stomach/until your spine becomes the neck/and your ribs transform into strings/I've mastered every chord of your contours/and we make music of our own"... Tell me he isn't absolutely amazing... That's all the waffling on I can do for now... Make the investment and buy the book you will not regret it... And if YOU read this, Hampton University needs your presence King...
